Collegebookrenter.com (CBR) partnered with the Dance Marathon at Florida State University to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network at Shands Children’s Hospital. CBR made a $7,000 donation at the event’s closing ceremonies on Sunday, Feb. 19.

“We are pleased to present this donation for such a great cause,” said Bud Byars, CBR President. “At CBR, we are committed to helping people have brighter futures.”

As a first-year sponsor, CBR generated a coupon code for FSU students. With this code, first-time CBR customers received $5 off their first textbook rental. Organizations responded very well to the code, having generated nearly 500 transactions within the first three days. DM promoted the code mostly through Facebook, Twitter and emails. Organizations were rewarded with “spirit points” for each book they rented with the code.

“My experience with Collegebookrenter has been nothing short of wonderful,” said DMFSU Sponsorship Chair Adrienne Harrison. “CBR has been so great to work with and truly had Dance Marathon’s best interest in mind from the beginning. I am so happy with what we have accomplished together, not only for DM, but also with creating exposure among FSU students for CBR.”

Dance Marathon at FSU is the university’s largest student-run philanthropy. This weekend, more than 1,000 student volunteers (called “dancers”) will stand for 40 hours, divided into two 20-hour shifts. Money is raised for Children’s Miracle Network at Shands Children’s Hospital and The FSU College of Medicine’s pediatric outreach programs. All proceeds will directly benefit the children of Tallahassee and surrounding areas.

“This donation means more miracles can be made and more kids can be helped at Shands Hospital for Children and within the FSU College of Medicine’s Pediatric Outreach Program,” said Harrison. “It means that local families are going to have their prayers answered, and we could not be more thankful to CBR for that.”
